I had my heart set on a specific college in high school. It was everything I thought I wanted: small, beautiful, close to home, and best of all, it didn’t require high SAT scores (mine weren’t great, and I was feeling the pressure). It just felt right.
Until I got the rejection letter.
I was devastated. I truly believed that was the train I was meant to board.
But life had other plans.
That rejection led me to a school six hours away, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, a place I hadn’t even seriously considered. But looking back? It was exactly where I was meant to be.
I met lifelong friends. I moved to Pennsylvania after graduation. I started my career in recruiting. I got married, and I now have two beautiful children.
None of that would have happened if I had gotten into that “dream” school.
That train wasn’t mine. But the one that came next changed my life.
So if you’re in a season of disappointment or feel like you missed your shot, I want you to hear this:
What’s meant for you won’t pass you by.
Trust the no. Sometimes it’s redirecting you to something far better.
Your story is still unfolding, and it may lead somewhere even more beautiful than you imagined.
You didn’t miss your train. That one just wasn’t yours. The right one is coming, and when it does, it’ll take you exactly where you’re meant to go.
If you're navigating a season of uncertainty, I offer coaching to help you get grounded, find clarity, and move forward with confidence.
